Statement:
I make installations, videotapes, environmental art, performances and photographs. I work with used and discarded materials and natural materials. Working with nature fascinates me. My environmental works are momentary in nature; they act as transient signifiers of the space and time with which they exist.
Anne Pehkonen´s work is conceptual and often narrative in form. It involves image, text, sound, installations and interventions, as well as community and collaborative projects. She makes also performance and environmental art.
In her work, questions related to identity and the different strategies we acquire to define ourselves in relation to others and our Environments are repeatedly explored.
In her new works she uses voice-overs in combination with moving images – or constructed situations – to create multi-layered narratives.
The stories told, fictional and documentary, are related to what you see, but also the situation you are in while listening.

SNOWBALL - INTERNATIONAL ART PROJECT
Snowball, the symbol of Global Warming.
Project started on 19th-20th, and 25th April in Kyoto and will carries on till year 2018.
You can participate in the project by crocheting small snowball(s) from used white plastic shopping bags and send them to visual artist Anne Pehkonen in Finland.

The finished Big Snow Ball will be handed over to the Leader of the country hosting the International Global Warming Conference.
